We are very pleased to offer for auction a fine Chinese Dehua Winepot & Cover.  Dehua wares have long been admired for their beauty, with their white pearl-like glaze and smooth texture.  While the Dehua kilns have traditional been known for producing various objects for the scholar's table, winepots represent the best of the Dehua wares and have long been highly favoured by the literati class.  It is said that the glaze is a reflection of the scholarly aesthetic and purity of design.  Winepots similar to this example have been found in the most prestigious collection, including those of Edward T. Chow, John Ayers, and others.

It measures approximately 6.3 inches tall.

Condition: The teapot is in good complete and stable condition with some restoration.  There is a small area of overpainting near the right foot of the dragon on the lid.  There is an area of overpainting along the recessed edge on the mouth aperature.  The dragon on the spout appears to have had it's beard reattached.  There is a small amount of overpainting near the top of the handle.  Other than that, it appears very good.
