We are pleased to offer for auction a Chinese bronze statue of Avalokiteshvara.  The multi-armed diety is shown standing with primary hands in the anjali mudra, the lower right and left hand in the varada mudra, and with the other hands posed to hold separately cast ritual implements.  A popular form of bodhisattva among Tibetan Buddhists, statues similar to this date from the Late Ming Dynasty to the Qianlong Period of the Qing Dynasty.  There is an original prayer scroll in the figure visible from the underside.

The statue is in very good condition and has wear consistent with age.  The base is now missing but there are attachment holes present on the feet.  The statue will not stand without a base so it should be remounted in future for display.  We assume that the top section of the box would've held the base.

The statue measures approximately 6.5 inches tall.  Overall it displays very nicely.
